Use Analytics and Market Intelligence

What this covers

How to use the Analytics section to understand your own shipping activity and the wider market. It's for anyone who wants to track spend and performance, or plan around port congestion and shifting freight rates.

Steps

  1. Open Analytics. Select Analytics in the left menu. It opens on the Overview dashboard, with the other tabs across the top.

  2. Switch between tabs. Use the tabs to move between views:

  3. Overview — a summary of your activity at a glance

  4. Movements — shipment movements over time

  5. Shipments — volumes and status across your shipments

  6. Financial — your freight spend

  7. Rates — how your rates trend over time

  8. Deliveries and Bookings — activity for each stage

  9. Trade Lanes — your busiest origin-to-destination lanes

  10. Sustainability — emissions associated with your cargo

  11. Reports — pull the underlying data

  12. Subscriptions — manage the alerts and updates you receive

  13. Blog — Prime Freight market updates and guidance

  14. Check Port Congestion. Open the Port Congestion tab to see how backed up key ports are. Rising dwell times at a port on your lane can signal delays ahead — plan buffers accordingly. For background, see Port congestion explained.

  15. Review Market Intelligence. Open the Market Intel tab for the broader rate and capacity picture — useful context when you're deciding whether to book now or wait. Pair it with your own Rates tab to see how your rates compare to the market.

Tips

  • Use Trade Lanes and Financial together to see where your spend concentrates — helpful when reviewing rates or planning volume.

  • Turn on the updates you care about under Subscriptions so market and route changes come to you. See Set up route alerts.

Troubleshooting

  • A chart looks empty. Analytics reflects your own shipment history, so newer accounts show less. Check any date range on the view and widen it if needed.
