Request a custom air or ocean rate

How to request a custom air or ocean rate when you need pricing that an instant search can't give you — for example an unusual lane, oversized cargo, or special requirements. For instant online rates, use RateSearch instead.

Have your shipment details ready so the quote is accurate:

• Origin and destination (ports, or door addresses if you need pickup or delivery)

• Mode — air or ocean

• Cargo details — dimensions, weight, and number of pieces or cartons

• Cargo value — needed if you want insurance

• Ready date — when the goods will be available to ship

1. Open the rate request. Go to Quotes and start a new rate request.

2. Choose air or ocean. Select the mode you need. The form adjusts to ask for the details relevant to that mode.

3. Fill in your shipment details. Enter your origin, destination, cargo details, and ready date. The more complete your entry, the more accurate your quote.

4. Submit the request. Send it to your Prime Freight team. When your quote is ready, you'll be able to review and accept it — see View quotes & accept a quote.

• Add optional services like insurance, customs brokerage, or bonds at request time so they're built into your quote — see Add-ons at quote time.

• For ocean freight, note whether you need a full container (FCL) or less than a container (LCL) so pricing matches your volume.
